How to Learn French

August 19, 2007

I watched a lot of infomercials this weekend. I admit it! It was very relaxing for some reason, though I just couldn’t look at that gt express after reading the bad reviews in amazon about the coating coming off very quickly!

I have been interested in the “how to learn french” teaching aids for hopefully a trip next summer to france. This summer is too late. Anyway there was something I saw on tv but I fell asleep during it (okay what can I say). However, there is a free course I found online via email which is here: How to Learn French

I will try that first and if I like it there is a more involved product. What looks good about this is that it takes less than 8 weeks, there’s a focus on restaurant ordering which I like and you can make it slow so you’re not lost. I’m a pragmatist so I like that there is a lot about asking for directions, hotel and travel dialogues and practical areas. This is what I’ll be using it for so why would I want to learn like 45 animal names etc? Also since I’m fast foods oriented I like that it’s mp3 and instantly downloadable.

When I went to school at McGill for a year it was really good but my boyfriend spoke too fast and I couldn’t get it and since he spoke perfect english, we gave up on french. Anyway this is the free course link:

I think if I want to return it, it’s easier than dealing with shipping for an infomercial product right now since I don’t have time to run to PO. Au Revoir.

My favorite shows are young and restless, wife swap, seinfeld, people’s court and friends. I find as a therapist that wife swap really puts you in a situation where you have to change or else meltdown! I do think they find extreme couples though to make the sure at it’s most intense level. The young and the restless seems to have a lot of romantic situations but I like the corporate ones as well and the dilemmas they discuss. There are some articles here on these programs:

What’s interesting is a combination of humor, compassion and intelligence and I think these shows all have that quality.

Is it just me or do the infomercials have a true knack for getting you to take out your credit card? I don’t know if I’m a sucker for them or if you are more vulnerable in the middle of the night! I ordered some luggage from an infomercial and though I was happy with it, I found it cheaper online a week later. This is because I think some people will buy things and then decide it’s not for the and resell them. I found some nice infomercial luggage items here for kids so it’s worth looking around. Also it is easier to wear sneakers I find going through airport security and why wear a belt since you just have to take it off anyway! You can put a nice ribbon or scarf with a knot on your luggage so you can quickly identify it on the luggage carousel rack too.
